What are the criteria for choosing the scholarship winners?
Twenty-one graduating seniors who plan to enroll at a two or four-year college in the fall will be chosen based on academic achievement, service to Drake and the Marin community, and financial need. Since financial need is only one criterion for this scholarship, seniors from all financial backgrounds will be considered and are encouraged to apply. Where can I get an application? You may download an application at the end of this page. What documents are required to apply for a scholarship? Please answer the questions on the Drake Scholarship Foundation application form on a separate word-processed page. If you have a resume, you may submit it in order to showcase your extra-curricular activities and/or honors and awards. You must also include a copy of your FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR) or a copy of the first two pages of your parents’ 2018 Income Tax Form. If your parents are divorced or not living together, financial information is required from both parents. All financial information is confidential and will be shredded or returned to you upon request. If you are unable to submit one of the financial forms, please contact Lisa Neumaier at lneumaier@tamdistrict.org. What is the deadline to apply for a scholarship? Applications and financial information should be emailed to Lisa Neumaier at lneumaier@tamdistrict.org by Friday, April 3, 2020. There will be no exceptions to this deadline. Can I apply for this scholarship if I plan to take a gap year after I graduate from Drake? Yes, all Drake seniors, regardless of their immediate plans following graduation, are eligible to apply. If you are awarded a scholarship and take a gap year, your scholarship will be put on hold until you are enrolled at a two or four-year college/university. Do I have to answer question #3 on the application if I don’t have any special circumstances to share? No, it is not required. Please read that question in its entirety in case it prompts you to remember something that you think might be important to include on the application. What do I do if I have questions? If you have any questions, please email Lisa Neumaier at lneumaier@tamdistrict.org. |
